About This Position

Anchor Truck Accessories has been family-owned since 1972 and is hiring an installer/technician to join their shop team. They outfit trucks with everything from hitches and wiring to lift kits, running boards, toolboxes, ladder racks, van shelving, truck caps, and spray-in bed liners. You'll be working on brand new trucks every day — drilling into grills, running 12-volt wiring, installing heavy fiberglass caps, and more.

This is a shop where people retire — four employees with 20+ years just retired in the last year, and their shop foreman Chris has been there 22 years. The ownership (Nathan and his father) are on the floor daily — you're not a number here. They provide all tools, offer a strong benefits package including 100% paid HSA health insurance, and have a culture that's easygoing but productive. Thick skin and a good sense of humor go a long way.

They're currently down two techs (one had surgery, one took another job) so timing is urgent, but finding the right person matters more than filling it fast. Working interviews/tryouts are available if you want to test the fit before committing.

What You'll Do

  • Install truck accessories on brand new vehicles — hitches, wiring harnesses, lift kits, leveling kits, running boards, nerf bars, toolboxes, ladder racks, tonneau covers, truck caps, van shelving/bulkheads, safety lights
  • 12-volt electrical wiring for lighting, accessories, and trailer hookups
  • Handle and install heavy components (fiberglass truck caps require 4-person team lifts) with extreme care around brand new vehicles
  • Drill into grills, metal panels, and body components on new trucks — precision and attention to detail is critical
  • Spray-in bed liner application (Line-X style) — not required but a plus
  • Pick parts from inventory as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop
  • Move customer vehicles around the shop/lot
  • Adapt and figure out new installs — dozens of different services means you won't do the same thing every day

What We Offer

$20 - $30/hour depending on experience (30-day performance reviews for pay adjustments)
100% employer-paid HSA health insurance plan (+ HSA matching up to $100/month)
Two additional health plan options available (company subsidizes the cost difference)
401(k) with 25¢ on the dollar match up to 10% contribution (vesting schedule applies)
1 week paid vacation immediately upon hire (2 weeks after 1 year, 3 after 3 years, 4 after 5 years)
4 paid sick days per year
6 paid holidays (New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)
Overtime available
All tools and equipment provided — bring nothing but yourself
Employee discounts on products (cost + 10%)
Production bonuses available based on performance
Family-owned environment — ownership on the floor daily, flexible on advances, negative vacation balances, etc.
Annual raise reviews
Working interview/tryout available before committing

What We're Looking For

  • 12-volt wiring experience — this is the #1 technical skill needed
  • General mechanical aptitude — comfortable with drills, impacts, cut-off wheels, power tools, hand tools
  • Extreme attention to detail — you're drilling into $60K-$100K+ brand new trucks, not beaters
  • Self-starter who doesn't need to be told what to do next — see the next truck in line, pull it in, do what's on the ticket
  • Adaptable and quick learner — dozens of different services, impossible to train on every single one, you need to figure things out
  • Motivated and consistent — not hot one day, cold the next
  • Team player with thick skin — blue collar shop environment, everyone jokes around but productivity comes first
  • Valid driver's license (moving customer vehicles around the lot)
  • Must pass background check (violent crimes, sexual offenses, theft, and fraud are deal-breakers; context matters for older/minor charges)
  • Physically capable — lifting, standing, working with heavy components all day
