About This Position

Austin Contracting is a scrap tire recycling and hauling company based in Joppa, Maryland, right off I-95 at Exit 74. They've been in business for 37 years and run a tight, family-owned operation with brand new equipment — including 2026 tractors and 2025 roll-off trucks.

They need a reliable CDL Class B (or A) driver to run roll-off dumpsters. The primary route involves hauling loaded scrap tire dumpsters from the Baltimore area to a processing facility in Pennsylvania (~2 hours one way), swapping empties, and running a second load. On local days, you'll swap tire dumpsters at car lots, landfills, state highway facilities, and other customer locations across Maryland.

This is a home-daily position — no overnights, ever. The company has had drivers stay 30+ years. They're looking for someone who respects the equipment, does their pre/post trip checks without being told, and shows up ready to work a full day.

What You'll Do

Haul loaded scrap tire dumpsters from Baltimore-area pickups to Pennsylvania processing facility
Complete 2 loads per day on the PA route (expectation, not optional)
Swap roll-off dumpsters at customer locations (car lots, landfills, state highway, tunnels, bridges)
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections every day — non-negotiable
Communicate frequently with dispatch — check in, report issues, don't sit idle for 10+ minutes without calling
Maintain and respect company equipment ($174K+ tractors, brand new roll-off trucks)
Handle basic paperwork and tickets for each pickup/delivery

What We Offer

$25 - $28/hour (based on experience and license class)

Home every night — no over-the-road, no overnights

Brand new equipment (2025-2026 trucks)

Guaranteed 40 hours/week minimum with overtime available

50% employer-paid health insurance (after probation period)

5 paid holidays after 1 year

1 week PTO after 1 year (doubles after 5 years)

Raises based on performance — some as early as 1-2 months in

What We're Looking For

CDL Class B minimum (Class A preferred — can drive both roll-off and tractor trailer)
Clean driving record — 1 minor ticket 3+ years old may be okay, but no multiple infractions
Ability to pass DOT drug test (urine + alcohol — federal requirement, zero tolerance)
Must be able to obtain TWIC card (for port access — background check required for this)
Current DOT medical card (or ability to get one — company covers the cost)
2+ years CDL experience preferred (recent CDL school grads considered if clean record and insurance-approved)
Respectful of equipment — pre/post trip checks are mandatory, not optional
Reliable — show up on time, work a full day, don't call out
Good communicator — frequent check-ins with dispatch expected

Location Requirement

Must be able to commute to Joppa, MD (Harford County, right off I-95 Exit 74). All routes are same-day — longest run is approximately 2 hours one way to Pennsylvania.
