About This Position

Brockworks is hiring a Superintendent for their custom home building operation at Smith Mountain Lake. The company has $20M in projects lined up for 2026, building modern and timber frame custom homes.

This role includes managing subcontractors, reading blueprints, maintaining quality control, and self-performing small tasks when needed. You'll be responsible for daily logs with photos. No customer interaction — the owner handles all client communication.

Work Split:

50% physical labor / 50% technical thinking
Must be willing to self-perform tasks (cleanup, blocking, minor work)

90-day performance review to reach the high end of the salary range.

What You'll Do

Manage subcontractors on custom home projects
Read and interpret blueprints
Maintain quality control standards
Complete daily logs with photos
Self-perform small tasks when needed (cleanup, blocking, minor work)
Coordinate schedules and materials
Ensure projects stay on track and on budget

Compensation & Benefits

$58,000 - $75,000 salary

90-day review to reach high end

3% full match + 50% match on next 2% = up to 4% total for 5% contribution

What We're Looking For

Blueprint reading ability
Experience running residential construction jobs (custom home experience preferred)
Attention to detail and organization skills
Thick skin — direct feedback environment
Clean background (no theft, assault, or domestic violence charges within 4 years)
