About This Position

DPF Alternatives is hiring a shop technician to join our small team. We're a diesel particulate filter cleaning company serving trucking companies and fleets across the Roanoke Valley.

We clean DPF filters using pneumatic, aqua, ultrasonic, and thermal cleaning methods. You'll also help with pickups, deliveries, and basic customer interactions.

This is a hands-on, physical job. You'll get dirty, you'll get wet, and you'll need to pay attention to detail. If you can handle that, you'll have your own shop to run within 1-2 years.

We're looking for self-starters who can follow instructions, then figure out the next step without being told.

What You'll Do

Clean diesel particulate filters using pneumatic blowguns, aqua systems, ultrasonic tanks, and thermal kilns
Inspect filters for damage, cracks, or melting before and after cleaning
Operate basic computer systems for invoicing and inventory tracking
Pick up and deliver filters to customers using company van
Maintain shop cleanliness and organization
Communicate with customers during pickups and deliveries
Monitor inventory levels and alert management when supplies run low

What We Offer

$18 - $21/hour depending on experience

401k with 3% employer match

Weekly pay

Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM (no weekends)

1 week PTO after first year + 5 personal days after 90 days

Overtime available when busy (not mandatory)

Path to shop management within 2 years ($27/hr+)

Hands-on training provided - no experience required

What We're Looking For

Valid driver's license with clean driving record (required)
Ability to lift 50-70 lbs repeatedly
Basic computer skills (invoicing, inventory - we'll train you on QuickBooks)
Some mechanical aptitude (auto, diesel, or just helping family in the garage - we'll teach you the rest)
Attention to detail - quality matters here
Self-motivated - can work independently without constant supervision
Reliable - show up on time, stay off your phone

Location Requirement

Must live within 20 miles of Roanoke, VA. This includes Salem, Vinton, and surrounding areas.
